CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS! NOTE WE WILL HAVE MORE CHARACTERS. The cast is 20

CASTING BREAKDOWN – MAMA PEARL

African American Female (Early 60s). Mama Pearl is elegant in her own old-school way — she moves slowly but always with intention. Usually dressed in a faded house dress, well-worn slippers and a scarf wrapped over silver hair, at first glance she’s warm, soft-spoken and nurturing. However, this role requires a powerhouse actress with exceptional emotional range. Mama Pearl gradually shifts from sweet and loving to chillingly sadistic, revealing a terrifying duality beneath her gentle exterior. Talent must be able to fully absorb and deliver layered dialogue, handle intense character beats, and convincingly embody both personalities — often switching mid-scene. Flashback scenes will require the actress to also portray a younger version of Mama Pearl, so she must be able to subtly adjust physicality, energy and tone to reflect a different time in her life. Strong acting chops, memorization skills, and a fearless commitment to character are a must.

Casting Breakdown — Jelly Bean (African American Female, Mid-30s):
Jelly Bean is his loyal, sexy, no-nonsense girlfriend — the kind who’s always looked good standing beside him and never flinched in the fire. We need a strong actress with natural instincts, capable of conveying deep emotion through subtle expressions and silence rather than dialogue. She spends much of the scene lying on the bed in a tank top, legs crossed, watching, not speaking — so you must be able to fully absorb lines from your scene partner, stay present in the moment, and communicate “ride-or-die” devotion even with worry simmering behind the eyes. Must be comfortable with nuanced drama, holding tension, and delivering layered energy without saying a word.

EDDIE GUNZ (African American, late 30s):
We’re seeking a seasoned, dynamic actor capable of fully absorbing dialogue and delivering truth with minimal words. Eddie Gunz is gritty but controlled — a man who carries the weight of his past in his body language. Actor must have strong memorization skills, natural stage presence, and the ability to communicate power, trauma, and quiet danger through stillness and subtle expression.
Fontana (African American, mid-20s): A powerful non-verbal role requiring an actress with strong emotional presence and the ability to embody grief without words. As she walks down the block, Fontana moves as if her heart is elsewhere — her body here, her spirit still with the child she’s lost. The quiet pain etched across her face tells the story: she is the broken, somber mother of the murdered baby, carrying a heavy sorrow that sits in every blink, breath, and step. Though dialogue is minimal, the character demands a performer skilled in internalizing and absorbing lines through expression, silence, and movement — commanding the screen with soulful restraint and depth.
Jay (African American male, mid-30s to early-40s) – A powerful, commanding force whose presence alone sends other men straight. As Jelly Beans’ older brother and the OG who shaped Eddie Gunz into the street legend he is today, Jay carries the weight of legacy, violence, and loyalty in every word. We’re seeking a seasoned dramatic actor with the ability to inhabit silence as effectively as dialogue — someone who understands subtext, delivers menace with restraint, and can absorb heavy lines while keeping the danger bubbling just beneath the surface. Must be comfortable portraying an emotionally layered alpha with a ruthless edge and strong memory for dialogue-driven scenes.
